Blog Tips for Real Estate Agents

Blog Tips for Real Estate AgentsAs a real estate agent, the importance of blogging fresh content regularly, can’t be stressed enough.

Blogs get picked up by search engines, drive traffic to your website, and eventually result in new leads. When people need information about your community or buying or selling a home, you want to be the one they turn to. Blogging can help establish you as an expert in your community. Provide great content on a regular basis, and your audience will keep coming back for more.

What makes up great content? We at Kim Hughes and Company research the latest trends for our clients, including information on local markets, in order to put together an effective blog strategy that gets results. We find that posting evergreen content that is informative, educational, entertaining or addresses problems and concerns really works to engage our real estate agents’ audiences. A blog article that utilizes keyword stuffing (overuse of keywords throughout the article) and too many links will come off as spam – this should definitely be avoided.

Blog Strategy

While it is important not to go overboard, your blogs should contain a few top keywords, active links, tags, alternative tags (alt tags), and your call-to-action. Include a high quality photo in your content that contains alt tags as well. There are several great royalty-free sites to find photos that can be used commercially.

Your blog should ideally be hosted on your website in order to drive traffic there. Share your blog articles on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. This is a great strategy to boost your blog and website visibility, and to improve your chances of reaching a wider audience through sharing.

Ideas for Blog Content

Here are a few topics that we post that really get results for Kim Hughes and Company clients. Consider posting 2-3 times per week. The important thing is to be consistent. This will help retain a devoted following for your blog and help it achieve a higher search engine rating.

  • Just listed and just sold properties
  • Listing price changes
  • Buyer topics such as first-time buyer information, mortgages, credit reporting
  • Seller topics such as how to boost value, timing the market, pricing, etc.
  • Homeowner topics such as renovations, home safety and maintenance
  • Current real estate market trends and local statistics
  • Community events and holiday information
  • Press releases for company changes and awards

Although blogging can be time-consuming and can require some strategizing to maximize its effectiveness, it is a proven strategy for boosting business that shouldn’t be overlooked. Hopefully you have gained a little insight and a few ideas to consider from the information above. Don’t have time to manage blogging? Contact me today for a consultation, and I will be happy to discuss how we can help.

Ready to create the changes that will help you move towards living the life you REALLY want? Now is the time to take control of your personal development by eliminating self-doubt. Get More Energy for Your Morning

Get More Energy for Your MorningIf you aren’t a morning person, you may find it a challenge to summon the energy to face your daily routine. Apparently it takes around two hours or less for the average person’s brain to really wake up, so it is easy to see why many of us have to drag ourselves out of bed. You don’t have to continue stumbling through your morning though. Here are some great tips to boost your energy and shake up your routine.

The Right Light

Sunlight signals the body that it is time to wake-up. Keeping the curtains open is one way to get your sun exposure, or you can get an alarm clock that simulates it. Either way, spend a few minutes in front of a sunny window and maybe do a little stretching.

Exercise

Go for a low to moderate workout to get the blood flowing, and to trigger endorphins that can help you beat the midday slump. A morning walk or 15 minutes of yoga should help loosen the muscles and improve your mental focus.

Your Routine

Showering in the morning provides a great opportunity for an energy boost. Change up your shower routine by including bath products that contain peppermint or rosemary – both good for mental clarity. Or you can simply apply a few drops to a cloth and inhale the scent.

Lemon Water

Drinking a glass of water with lemon in the morning is thought to have many health benefits. Lemon water helps cleanse the digestive system, reduces inflammation, improves the immune system and boosts your energy. Squeeze half a lemon into a glass of water and drink 15 to 30 minutes before eating breakfast to enjoy the benefits.

Breakfast

What you have for breakfast can really go a long way toward making or breaking the first half of your work-day. Cut down on refined sugar and consider including sources of lean protein, fruits and veggies, and complex carbohydrates in your morning meal. Whole-grains, turkey, avocado, yogurt, eggs and bananas are some good options.

Vitamins

Taking a multi-vitamin can help counteract a deficiency of nutrients in your diet. Eating a balanced diet is the best way to meet your energy needs, but there are supplements that can help with fatigue. Magnesium, Vitamin B12 and folic acid are a few supplements that can boost your energy if you are deficient in them.

Sleep

And last but not least, get a good night’s sleep for a better morning. 8 hours of sleep is about average, though some people may need more. Stay on a daily schedule and avoid trying to catch up on sleep after your week is done.

I hope these tips will help you stay on your game and rock your morning routine in future. Making simple changes is sometimes all that is necessary to see an improvement in your energy levels, so you can stay focused and more productive throughout your day.

Top 6 Items You Can Send To Your Real Estate Leads

Business TipsThe real estate world is doing pretty darn good right now and everyone is busy helping their clients take advantage of a great time to buy.  Interest rates are low and that means buyers are looking to get a piece of the action.

So what do you do now that you have all these leads that are just floating around in space with no direction?

You create a plan.

Every agent must have a lead management strategy; which should go something like this….

Leads broken down into 3 groups

Hot, warm and cold

What do you send them?

  1. Market Stats
  2. Invite to put them on your email listing alerts
  3. Introduce them to mortgage lender
  4. Put on newsletter
  5. Call them
  6. Connect with them on social media

These are the main ingredients to having a successful strategy for generating relationships with your leads.  You want to nurture them in a way that speaks to them.  This will be a personal investment, not a canned one.  You have to reach out and give them top-notch customer service to begin with, so they are so impressed they come to you when they are ready to achieve their real estate goals.

A strategy, or action plan should include:

  • Sending out the market analysis each month
  • Creating your newsletter and emailing it to your leads
  • Connecting with them on social media
  • Set them up on your email list alert account.

Right, I hear ya! No time to do all this? No problem – Kim Hughes & Company can help you customize a strategy, create the action plan, implement it and so much more.

Kim and her team of high-level executive real estate virtual assistants want to hear from you to determine where you are struggling. We will offer solutions for your needs and act on them.

Call or email Kim today and let’s schedule a 30-minute complimentary consultation.  You will be glad you did.

Controlling Negativity

Controlling Negativity

Controlling Negativity

Much time and discussion is directed towards eliminating negative thoughts and behavior – but what is the real psychology of negativity? What is the actual cause and the actual remedy?

Life presents plenty of stumbling blocks for everybody, no doubt. It’s how we view them and deal with them that matters. Because how we view life and allow it to affect us, or our egocentricity, is what determines our behavior. Behavior arising from negativity then creates a circle that encloses our thinking and our views of life. Basically, this means our negative thinking has become global, and then, instead of reacting to actual events, we are, in reality, creating them ourselves.  Here are some concepts that we may consider about our personal outlook and how we may control how our ego responds.

Determine your global attitude – is it positive or negative? If you really can’t, your family and those around you certainly can. Negative thoughts occur naturally, but if they occur constantly, your global view is negative. Break the cycle after the first negative thought by recognizing it, and stop what follows, catch the next negative thought and identify it realistically. Stop the globalization of negative thought – everything that happens in life is not negative unless we make it so.

When events occur that elicit a negative reaction immediately, stop the labeling and judging of events as “good” or “bad”  –  simply postpone judgment as “too soon to tell”. Then respond by taking positive action to remedy the “negative” event. Take control.

Don’t allow yourself to think in extremes, that is, don’t embrace a negative thought and “run with it”. Stop. You can’t foresee the future, but you can surely contribute to it negatively or positively. Consciously choose the positive view and break the negative cycle.

Isolate yourself from constant negative input from media. Distance yourself from social media with sensational negative information. Turn off provocative radio shows. Divest yourself from news that highlights conflict.

And lastly, get to work. Create your own positive. Negativity drains our energy and initiative and perpetuates negative outcomes. The best remedy is to spend time creating possibilities that break the cycle of negativity by contributing instead to positive outcomes, in other words, work hard to give yourself nothing to be negative about – hard work creates positive outcomes.

Take the High Road

Take the High RdYou’re a seriously committed business professional, and you invest much of yourself in your business, as all successful people must. You work hard for your clients and strive to develop a good working relationship with them. Consequently, when you abruptly lose a client, it hurts; the more work you have invested in that client the greater the sting. However, losing a client is a fact of business life and business professionals must learn to deal with it positively.

Initially, losing a client may feel like a rejection of you, your efforts, or your business. But it may not be. Ultimately it is the client’s decision to employ your business, and their decision to remain or leave. When they leave in the midst of a project, it may actually have nothing to do with you. Though it is still difficult for you to accept, it could be that the client is just not really completely committed to success; you may have already received indications of this through missed appointments, etc.; or it could be their own personal or financial situation as well.

Review feedback, if you have received any, and first determine the truth of it. Based on your findings, make changes if any are warranted. Talk positively with yourself about the event. Also review your policies and address this issue if you have not already, and develop policies which might turn such a situation around.

Regardless of the reasons for a client leaving, as a professional you must always take the high road and respond graciously and positively, difficult as that may be. Your reputation and future business depend on it. There is always the possibility that the client may return in the future, and in that event, you may wish to decide your course of action in advance through specific policies.

In the meantime, there are therapeutic things you might may want to employ to alleviate some of your disappointment; for instance, write a letter or email to the client and express your feelings resulting from their behavior, but do not send it. Many people find this cathartic and relate that shortly after, they feel much better and are ready to move on from the event.

Maybe you need to review your skills to refresh or learn more and your industry. This is where you should always work on providing the best services to your clients. By continuing to educate yourself you not only create more of a demand for your services, but you build confidence in knowing you are always improving who you are and what you have to offer.

Above all, do not dwell on the event or continually question your abilities. Instead focus on the positive – your other clients. As a successful business professional, you have many positive experiences to help restore your confidence and self-esteem. Dwell on these instead, then let go and move on.

Do you find that with your busy schedule that you don’t have time to implement these very important client relationship management tasks? Get in touch with Kim Hughes today and learn how client relationship management can be made simple, with no burden to you.
